Happy Fathers Day and I've Got Friday On My Mind Performed by Stevie Wright and The Easybeats

I just scanned a few hundred songs that mention Dad or Father, etc. My favorite is Papa Was A Rollin' Stone but that does not fit my Father. Papa fits a certain experience in my life but not Fathers Day.

I heard the The Easybeats sing Friday on My Mind a few years ago. Friday has been covered by everybody. The song lyrics are here for your pleasure.

This is just a fun song. Harry Vanda and Georg Young did the writing and "Little" Stevie Wright sings his heart out.

There's one line in this song that compliments my Father and that applies any time. Friday On My Mind is Timeless.

Happy Birthday To My Dad Who Defines Resilience and So Much More

My Father is resilient and I thank God my parents brought me into the world. I'm very proud of my accomplishments and so is my family. I count my blessings every day and look forward to bringing more joy into the world.

Perhaps, I can write a story that dates back to my early days or maybe some music that inspired me. I'll write some more and return to this page shortly. My Father will have the greatest party of his life tonight and he deserves it. More soon.

And, in my future book, my Father receives a chapter. I think it's a great idea to document the legacy of your family.

Parental Love and The Torture Chamber

Adults who don't learn from their history tend to repeat their mistakes. They abuse their children and divorce the partner they once said "I Love You" to. These people have difficulty with relationships and holding onto a job. Lots of disfunction.

Stress is difficult to handle and they know they need to change and often find it so hard that they don't. These people look like gang members and also look normal. Their secrets are deep and painful. The scars cover their life and they die as fast as they live.

The generation repeats itself and all of us try to live together in one big world. I live in the No. 2 city in America and what happens to children is just beyond words. To grow up in a torture chamber and then manage a life with so much damage - and that's if they make it out alive takes a miracle!

These victims are not monsters but that's how they feel.

Parents may mean well but if they fail to do right then we all feel it and pay a very high price by staying in the torture chamber until society heals a problem that won't go away by itself...

Too many parents are failing and the world is losing big.

What can you do? Be the best at whatever you are because those children of all ages are watching you while you think about this. Something to think about while the torture chamber works overtime...

It's very hard to change but possible. What will you do for yourself today?

Thanksgiving 2008

The economy may get worse but we will survive. Others have it harder and the year is not over yet. I have so much to be grateful for no matter how you look at it.

Thanksgivings have always been markers for me and I have probably learned more this year than ever. I'm thankful for that and so many other things.

I volunteered by helping a charity feed scores of people tonight and I was thankful I could do that. I'm happy with the person I am today and what I stand for. I helped a lot of people, learned a lot of lessons, changed my life like crazy and really helped myself grow so I can be a bigger part of the solution (whatever that looks like) in this country and world.

I'm thankful I can be myself and embrace these changing times and challenges that follow. Nothings perfect but I do have a lot to be thankful for and that's pretty cool.

Would I return to Thanksgiving 1970 if I could? No and I look forward to the future with open arms.

Soul Paintings

She did not speak any English but she spoke to me. I connected with her and felt the warmth of her heart. We both knew pain and appreciated the look in our eyes.

I was painting her house and it was hard work. Getting to know her was even harder and shortly she would return to her country. The experience was well worth it. I would never meet anyone like her in my life again.

That was 38 years ago and I think about her till this day and how much more of a person I am as a result of my time with her. Her memory will never die and I will always miss her.

She was not afraid to cry. She reached out to touch me and now I'm not afraid to die.

Try painting a picture of your soul. It may take a while...

Growing Up In The Gutter

Is it so hard to see the light when all you have seen is darkness. It gets confusing when night looks like day and day looks like night.

Beauty is what it is and when you can see the colors that drape the look of love by connecting with a human being who has never even touched the gutter, that's when you know your in the right place.

Even the sickest person on earth can make my day and open my eyes. I can learn something from anyone. I have seen just about everything under the sun and discovered that I have a lot more to see and so much more to give.

The gutter is often filled with dirty water (sometimes toxic) and it can also carry crystal clear and clean sparkling water that can leave anyone refreshed. Just think of the rain.

Summer rain falls on me and washes me clean.

I'm refreshed and ready for a new experience that is made for me.

It's called HOME (surrounding myself with what I love the most) and you won't find that in the gutter...
